Having resigned their jobs and having sold their bicycles and watches to raise money, Chairman Chen Yuxin and his three brothers, Liu Yongyan, Liu Yongxing and Liu Yonghao, returned to their hometown of Gujia Village, Shunjiang Township, Xinjin County by the end of 1982. There they established their own private enterprise, the Yuxin Seed Multiplication Farm to farm quails and chickens. Chen Yuxin and his three brothers soon expanded into the feed industry. From these humble beginnings, the Hope Group today is China's largest private company and most successful in the feedstuff industry after being awarded first in the “Top 500 China’s Private Enterprises” and “Top 100 National Feedstuff Industry Enterprises”.

By 1995, the Hope Group grew so large and rapidly that the four brothers decided to split it into four entities. Chairman Chen Yuxin’s entity, the West Hope Group (WHG) was founded in 1997. As the founder and visionary as well as the General Manager of the overall Hope Group, Chairman Chen bases the West Hope Group’s guiding force on the following mission statement and values.

The goal of the “211 Project” is two listed companies with annual sales of more than RMB 10 billion and total assets of more than RMB 10 billion within five years.
